Katie:
This is in response to your July 13th devotional involving your personal narrative about reparations. I am concerned that the concept of reparations is wholly unworkable and overlooks black history in this country and abroad. The depredations of slavery must be overcome but coerced or even voluntary repayment rooted in white guilt is not the solution. I’m happy to discuss these thoughts with you at an appropriate time.

Don, I’d love to talk about this with you! Thank you for offering. Only by listening to different viewpoints are we able to understand one another and figure out how to move forward. I’m swamped through next week, but maybe at the end of the month? –Katie
