One of our charges as a Matthew 25 church is to work toward eradicating systemic poverty. As we try to better understand poverty, we will discuss the book Heartland: A Memoir of Working Hard and Being Broke in the Richest Country on Earth by Sarah Smarsh. This memoir explores generational poverty among folks living in our country’s “breadbasket.”
The discussion will take place via Zoom on Wednesday, March 24, at 6:30 p.m. The book is available new and used through online booksellers.
